Abstract
This paper describes the possibility of new applications of an ultrasound technology for functional papers. The ultrasound welder is similar to a traditional sewing machine in appearance and can perform cutting and sealing edges of nonwovens at the same time. An ultrasound cutter is a general-purpose portable cutter which can be cutting materials smoothly by ultrasonic vibration. It is commonly used not only in hobby fields as cutting the plastic model but also in industrial fields. Using an ultrasound atomization system, organosilicon compound particles having average diameter, smaller than 10 micrometer, were deposited onto surface of A2 size poster paper directly to provide function transparent super water-repellent films. Recently, researchers have been interested in sonochemistry induced by ultrasound cavitation because of its important role such as synthesis nanoparticles, degradations of harmful substance and promotion of chemical reactions. It has become possible to provide new functionality to the functional paper.
