Abstract
A chiral tripodand having three binaphthyl moieties and three hydroxyl terminal groups were prepared. The reaction of this tripodand with benzene 1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid chloride gave a cryptand-type caged product. The X-ray structure of the product was measured and confirmed to be caged compound. The caged product formed 1:1 complex with tetraethylaminomium ion selectively among several kinds of ammonium ions. Also, it was found that the caged product can include halogenated carbons by the measurement of elemental analysis and TG-TDA analysis.
