Synthesis and Photovoltaic Performance of Novel Azulenic Dyes

Abstract

The application of Azulenic dyes for organic solar cells is extremely few, though a lot of organic dyes are applied to it. However, by using the long wavelength absorption and electron donating ability of five membered ring, the application for organic solar cells of Azulenic dyes is also possible. So, we took notice Guaiazulene. Guaiazulene is one of Azulenic dyes, aggregation is disturbed by steric hindrance. We synthesized novel Azulenic dyes and studied their photovoltaic performance of the Dye Sensitized Solar Cells.
