Abstract
Three isomeric benzodifurans, benzo[1,2-b;6,5-b']difuran, benzo[1,2-b;4,3-b']difuran, and benzo[1,2-b;3,4-b']difuran, which possess an isoelectronic structure to phenanthrene, have been synthesized. Their electronic absorption and emission spectra studied were found to be different significantly. Correlation between molecular structure and electronic spectra are discussed based on the theoretical calculations.
