Abstract
A novel functional -system, the double layered triphenylamine (triphenylamine double-decker (TPA-DD)) was successfully prepared. The electronic and magnetic properties of the cationic species were investigated by the electrochemical, absorption spectroscopic, and ESR measurements. The cyclic voltammogram indicated that TPA-DD was oxidizable up to the hexacation, and furthermore, the first oxidation potential was considerably low, so that TPA-DD can be considered as a good pi-electron donor. The charge-transfer (CT) complex formation was examined by mixing TPA-DD with tetracyano-p-quinodimethane (TCNQ) as the well-known pi-electron accepter.
