Synthesis and Properties of Sulfur-Containing Pyridylazulenes

Abstract

Recently we reported the azulene derivatives having the pyridyl group at 1 or 1,3-positions shows the color change from blue to red upon the addition of soft metal ions such as Hg2+. In order to develop the Hg2+ selective sensor, we synthesized the sulfur-containing pyridylazulene 2, 3 and examined the the sensitivity and selectivity.
