Abstract
2-Pyridyl substituted benzodifuran (2-PyBDF) exhibited some unique properties, such as mechanochromism in the solid state and concentration dependence of absorption and emission spectra. These properties were not observed for simple BDFs, such as PhBDF. Besides, LUMO energy level of 2-PyBDF was quite lower than other BDF derivatives. These data indicate that pyridyl group induced unique intermolecular interactions.
