Abstract
All-organic radical liquid crystals with negative dielectric anisotropy showed positive magnetic interactions (J>0) in both racemic achiral (N and SmC) and enantio-enriched chiral (N* and SmC*) liquid crystalline phases. On the other hand, those with positive dielectric anisotropy exhibited negative (J<0) or positive (J>0) magnetic interactions in the racemic N phase or in the enantio-enriched N* phase, respectively. Here we report these experimental results and the origin of the observed different magnetic interactions.
