Abstract

We have synthesized novel organic dyes with diarylmethylcation units on some aromatic rings and examined their properties. In this time, we have studied syntheses and properties of quinoid type compounds 1, 2 with bisarylmethylidene units. The reaction of dianion 3, 4 that with benzophenone afforded the compound 5, 2a with few yield that prepared by well-known methods. In the electronic spectra, 5 showed hypochromic effect in the nonpolar solvent such as cyclohexane.
