Abstract

Climatic effects on the degree of fungus development of the blast fungus of rice cultivar Mutuhikari (susceptible), Reimei (resistant) and Mutuhonami (moderate) estimated by the leaf sheath inoculation technique was analyzed by multiple.regression analysis.
The meteorological factor and the influence term of this factor that effected the degree of fungus development in the host tissues differed from rice cul-tivars. In the case of rice cultivar Mutuhikari, the complex weather index (mean temperature X sunshine/mean wind speed) and mean wind speed were significant. The influence term of the meteorological factor that effected the degree of fungus development was about 9 to 11 days. In the case of rice. cultivar Reimei, the complex weather index was significant and the influence term of this meteorological factor was about 24 to 25days. In the case of rice cultivar Mutuhonami, sunshine and the complex weather index were significant and the influence term of these meteorological factor was about 17 to 24days.
