Abstract

Host range of Polymyxa graminis Ledingham, a vector of soil-borne virus of wheat was investigated. Seven species of Graminales plants (Triticum aestivum, T. dicoccum, T. timopheevi, Hordeum vulgare, Triticale sp., Aegilops squarrosa, Avena sativa) were infested with the fungus. The fungus infected both variety Fukuhokomugi and Nanbukomugi with same severity. Fukuhokomugi is resitant to wheat yellow mosaic disease in the field and Nanbukomugi is suseptible to wheat yellow mosaic disease. The results suggest that no wheat yellow mosaic virus multiply in the resistant variety of wheat.
