Abstract

A 73-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of ileocaecalgia. A barium enema examination showed a filling defect in the terminal ileum. Gallium scintigraphy demonstrated two hot lesions in the ileocaecal region. A CT scan of the abdomen revealed enhanced mass in the same region.
Upon surgery, a tumor was found in the terminal ileum and regional nodes were enlarged. Right hemicolectomy was performed. The resected specimen showed a well-defined ulcer, 4.0×6.0cm in size. Microscopical examination revealed a large diffuse cell lymphoma which was and LN-1(+), IgM(+), light chain(+), immunohistologically.
Postoperatively, 30-Gy irradiation was carried out and combination chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide (750 mg/m2), adriamycin (50mg/m2), oncovin (1.8mg/m2), and predonine (100mg/ body/5 days) was prescribed. Twelve months after the operation, the patient is well with no evidence of recurrent disease.
