Cation permeability and molecular sieve effect of clay-membrane were investigated by the through-diffusion experiment. Cations such as hydroxonium ions permeated selectively through a clay-membrane. While alchole molecules (MeOH and EtOH) less mobile than water molecule in the clay membrane, indicating that the membrane work as a molecular sieve.
