Visually evoked cortical potentials (VEP) were measured for 13 spectral-color stimuli at each of 5 retinal-illuminance levels (30 to 3000 trolands) on three subjects.
These VEP curves were analyzed by use of a special technique based on the principal component analysis in order to estimate their coded informations on luminosity and color.
It was confirmed that the luminosity responses coded in the VEP curves were approximately proportional to the logarithm of retinal illuminance.
On the chromatic informations, the opponent-colors responses were found in the VEP curves which were similar to those reported in the previous paper (Vision Research 13 (1973) 1319). These derived chromatic responses were compared with the subjective estimates on hue perception for each subject, and generally a good agreement was observed.
