Students generally consider the subjects studied at college to be totally independent and with no relevance to each other. By combining the teaching of traditional librarian skills with training in computing, this is a practical course that develops the creativity and provides the information retrieval skills that are demanded of the future librarian. As a practical example of this, the authors is undertaking the task of creating a digital manual for the digitalization of its archives of classical literature that can be referenced by everyone. Participation on this and other projects is designed to develop the student’s I.T. skills and creativity.
