Abstract
I hereby announce a major revision of Life Science Dictionary database (LifeSciDict), a reference work containing specific English and Japanese terms used regularly in the field of life science. The revision involves: (1) monitoring of the dictionary by 20 researchers representing various fields of specialization; (2) supplementing of frequently used terms from scientific journals; and (3) definitions of the attribution of a word and the priority of translated terms. The revised edition of LifeSciDict consisted of 25,000 Japanese and 29,000 English entries, and has been used as the source of public Life Science Dictionary version2. An original spell-check dictionary as well as the advanced version of Kana-kanji and English-Japanese dictionaries were produced and released in Macintosh, Unix, MS-DOS and Windows formats. These dictionaries were made available on computer networks and the total number of download reached over 4,000 within the first eight months of its availability.
