I hereby announce a major revision of Life Science Dictionary database (LifeSciDict), a reference work containing specific English and Japanese terms used regularly in the field of life science. The revision involves: (1) monitoring of the dictionary by 20 researchers representing various fields of specialization; (2) supplementing of frequently used terms from scientific journals; and (3) definitions of the attribution of a word and the priority of translated terms. The revised edition of LifeSciDict consisted of 25,000 Japanese and 29,000 English entries, and has been used as the source of public Life Science Dictionary version2. An original spell-check dictionary as well as the advanced version of Kana-kanji and English-Japanese dictionaries were produced and released in Macintosh, Unix, MS-DOS and Windows formats. These dictionaries were made available on computer networks and the total number of download reached over 4,000 within the first eight months of its availability.

Since the National Center for Supercomputer Applications(NCSA) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign(UIUC) has developed Mosaic in the end of 1992, the World Wide Web(WWW) became to interconnect information located around the world so easily. This paper focuses on issues how to activate the courseware on the internet on the base of experiment to develop a Japanese Tea Ceremony course at UIUC which has one of the best networked computer system. We discuss issues relating the design, development, advantage or disadvantage for user via the Web. We have developed three chapters, and will develop new chapter after we discuss summery for the use's questioner.

I teach English educational technology class since 1992 in Kinjo Gakuin University for 4th year students of English major. The final goal of this class is to make students produce their own program of teaching materials by using “HyperCard”, multimedia authoring tool. In April 1994 I edited and published, after 3 years' work, “HyperCard Lessons” of which purpose is to give the facilities to students or self-learning user to make their own stacks. “HyperCard Lessons” teaches them the basic concept of HyperCard in the first semester, and on this base they can begin to create their own stacks in the last semester. Bill Atkinson bore HyperCard as a realization of the concept “hyper text”. At first HyperCard was released as a free software like a detachable pull-out supplement of Macintosh in 1987. After version 2.0 HyperCard is divided into the full size set for merchandise and the light version which is free for Macintosh user. Unfortunately the light version takes most of Macintosh users away the imagination to create an original stack. In order that HyperCard would revive as an original multimedia authoring tool for students, I worked to give to HyperCard's objects in good order. Students can learn systematically the concepts of “button”,“field”,“card”,“background”, and“stack”, the properties of them, HyperTalk and the idea over the Stack design. I discuss in this paper the structure of HyperCard by explaining the process of the development of “HyperCard Lessons”. By the way I speak about “Digital Allons-y!”, my recent work for French learning software CD-ROM which has been just produced by my-self in 1995.

This paper traces the developments of campus network systems connected to the Internet in Niigata university and it's attached schools. Vased on various experiences gained from educational use of our campus network systems, we conclude that the more frequently students use the internet in daily life, the more they cultivate Information applications and information literacy. Furthermore, we briefly introduce the current status of K12(from elementary school to high school) in Niigata prefecture where the growing numbers of schools are connecting the internet by mean of PPP(Point to Point Protocol) connections. Althoug the limmited situation of dialup IP connections, they get many successful results and rich prospects for future progress of the educational applcations of the internet. We also seriously propose that every public sectors should be connected by the public-internets in order to improve the Information Literacy of all Japanese children, pupiles and students.

MacLang4.5 is an easy-to-use authoring system that allows language teachers inexperienced in computer use to create a variety of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) exercises on a Macintoshcomputer. The MacLang authoring system can also produce extremely user-friendly coursewares for students. Using six different format possibilities, vocabulary, fill in blanks, paragraph, multiple choice, jumble and multi-format, linguistic activities specifically tailored to students' needs can be prepared using English and one more language. This paper discusses some advantages in using the authoring tool such as: (1) Students receive immediate feedback, and ther mistakes and scores are stored. (2) Interactive exercises may be created in which incorrect answers are anticipated. (3) The system includes many options to cope with more than one group of students with various levels.

This is the introduction of the students who use the "Network system" as a "Learningtool" in the new curriculum of science. The goal is not learning the operation of computers but learning science itself through presentation and E-conferences.The "Network system" is made up of "File server by Netware", "Command exchange by HyperCard", and "Net communication by FirstClass" through classroom LAN and a public line.
