Abstract

The authors ascertained that the presence of Chinese translucent gene or suppressed the function of Gc gene and lightened the green color of the cocoon in the silkworms with oc and Gc genes in homozygous.
In this silkworms, oc genes act to synthesize a new yellowish green fluorescent pigment (Rf0.07) in the alimentary canal-cells and translate from the canal into the blood flow and from the blood into the middle silkglands. On the other side, they check to produce two kinds of yellowish brown fluorescent pigments (Rf 0.10, 0.14) that Gc gene should synthesize in the alimentary canal-cells. After all, the cocoons of this silkworms assumes a light green color.
