According to our investigation (YOSHITAKE and AKIYAMA) the silkworm can be classified into five types (O, A, B, C & D) concerning blood acid-phosphatase. In this paper, the different types of acid-phosphatase were investigated in 161 silkworm strains. The strains belonging to the Japanese and European races indicated high frequency of C type, while those belonging to the Chinese race showed high frequency of O and D types. Thus the distribution of acid-phosphatase types is alike in Japanese and European races, whereas there can scarcely be found any resemblance in Chinese and European races. On the other hand, most of the trimoltine strains belong to either O type or C type, while polyvoltine strains show C type. It is plausibly thought that trimoltine strains can be grouped into two kinds (Japanese group and Chinese group).
