Concussion of the brain was induced in female guinea pigs and while pursuing the fine structure of the reticular formation core in the post concussive state the characteristic structure was encountered in the preaxonal ending.1) An honeycomb-like structure about 10-15μ in diameter was formed in it.2) Each core exhibiting elongated hexagonal packing of tubules is formed by the unit membrane 60 Å thick.3) Although mitochondria show a normal structure in the preaxonal ending, no vesicles, glycogen and catecholomine granules were recognized.
