We tested the varidity of a new contrast medium (BC-17) for cholangiography and cholecystography in 25 patients. From our clinical trials it is apparent that BC-17 administered by intravenous drip infusion produces early, intense and persistent opacification of the biliary tract. In particular, it provides excellent visulization of the biliary tract for a long time. This durability of effect makes it possible either to take a single X-ray picture and tomogram with confidence as to radiological diagnosis. EC-17 was tolerated by all patients with complete freedom from lacal and systemic side effects. From the results of our clinical trials, though somewhat limited in numbers, it is apparent that BC-17 is sufficiently available for clinical use.
