1) Joint toxicological studies of Kitazin, 0, 0-diethyl-S-benzyl-thiophosphate(EBP), which is a new fungicide for rice blast, were conducted in combination with Sumithion, 0, 0-dimethyl-O-(3-methyl-4-nitrophenyl) thiophosphate(MEP), for the small brown planthopper (Laodelphax striatellus FALLÉN), the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens STÅL), and the green rice leafhopper (Nepho-tettix cincticeps UHLER) by the leaf-dipping method in laboratory.
2) From statistical analysis of dose-probit regression lines, the mixture of Kitazin and Sumithion at a ratio of 1:1 in active ingredients shows synergistic action for any of all insects tested.
3) Depending upon the hypothesis of similar joint toxic action between the two chemicals, the toxicity of mixture for L. striatellus, N. lugens, and N. cincticeps were 2.84, 4.47, and 6.36 times higher respectively than those which calculated from the toxicity of component separately.
