Infestations of the aphid, Longiunguis sacchari (ZEHNTNER) on several sorghum varieties in the field were surveyed in 1973-'75. The aphid densities were high on the sorghum-type varieites such as Chugoku ko No. 4, Hybrid Sorgo and Hiromidori, while they were low on the sudangrass-type varieties, especially on New Sorgo and Sweet Sorgo. There was no conspicuous difference in the aphid fecundity from the rearing experiment of the aphids on these varieties. It seems that the differential aphid infestation on the two types of sorghum might be due to the external properties different between the two types.
