Abstract
This study focuses on how Vinh was designed in the 1970s and how nature and tradition were incorporated into the planning method. The study uses documents from the German National Archive in Berlin. The analysis clearly shows that (1) nature and tradition were considered important elements in the urban design of Vinh, (2) these elements were related to each other in the newly designed city, and (3) such a state was described as an " urban organism ". In other words, it was confirmed that the post-war reconstruction of Vinh in the 1970s had a similar intention to the urban design of Hamhung in the 1950s.
