Abstract
A female, Luehdorfja japonica, which had yellowish brown sphragis, was collected at Nagano-pref. Japan in May, 1961. It is pressumed that this sphragis was formed by a male of L. puziloi, because a sphragis of japonica is black and that of puziloi is yellowish brown. Eighty five eggs were obtained from this female and most of the eggs hatched. Larvae were reared on Heterotropa takaoi and 28 pupae were obtained. Yellow spots appeared on mature larvae as in L. puziloi. Four male and 10 female butterflies emerged in March, 1962. These butterflies show the intermediate expressions concerning 4 major differences between japonica and puziloi. Therefore, it is certain that these butterflies are F_1 hybrids between the two species
