Abstract
Habitat, food plant, life cycle, adult behaviour and morphological variation of Neope niphonica niphonica Butler from Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Central Japan (Hokuriku District) were reported. The diurnal activity of this race is somewhat similar to that of the subsp. kiyosumiensis Takahashi & Aoyama. The forewing length of the summer form is very large, similar to the races of Mt Oe (Kyoto) and Mt Sambe (Shimane), especially in the female. The colouration of the wing underside, in the summer form, probably, is the palest among all the races of this species in Japan.
