Assara seminivalis (Turner) (Lepidoptera, Pyralidae) newly recorded from Japan, with biological notes on it

Abstract

Assara seminivalis (Turner) (Pyralidae) was recorded from Japan for the first time. This species was reared from the seeds of Heritiera littoralis (Malvaceae) on the Iriomote-jima Is., the Ryukyus, southwestern Japan. Photographs of the adult specimens and male and female genitalia are presented, as well as some showing its larval biology.
