抄録
The purpose of this paper is first to make a clearer definition of "juncture," second to examine briefly the sound features that signal the locations of junctures in utterances, i.e. the junctural cues, third to refer to some non-distinctive junctural contrasts that may be helpful in identifying different styles and dialects, and finally to examine some junctures that should be considered important in teaching English pronunciation to Japanese learners. The contents of this paper are almost the same as those of the oral presentation made by the present author at the 1982 annual conference of LLA, Kyushu Chapter.
