We have developed an all-solid-state laser with high energy pulses and high brightness. In 2001 fiscal year, we produced the average output power of 1050 W with the beam-quality of about 8 times the diffraction limit at 23% of the electrical-to-optical efficiency by the equivalent coupling of two bi-focusing compensation resonators. We also proved the focusing ability of less than 50 μm of the beam diameter. By demonstrating these results, we successfully achieved the final targets of this project. Using the high-power and high-brightness laser we have succeeded to generate high power UV laser with high efficiency. We kept more than 20-W fourth-harmonic output powers over 50 hours by plural CLBO crystals. We also generated the fourth-harmonic output power up to 41.7 W. By the results shown above, we established high-power UV beam generation technology, and achieved the final target of this project.
