A Radio-over-Fiber technique based on subcarrier multiplexing is a promising technique for modern wireless systems and networks. In this paper, we describe several example applications of Radio-over-Fiber: third- and fourth-generation cellular phone radio base station systems for dead zone services, a millimeterwave fixed wireless access system using IF transmission format and CWDM technology, and a multi-band/ multi-channel wireless LAN distributed antenna system enabling centralized management and dynamic traffic capacity control. Some experimental results are also demonstrated.
