The principle of coherent Raman spectroscopy in terahertz (THz) frequency region using frequencychirped
optical pulses is explained. The examples of THz Raman spectroscopy for solid state (β -GaSe
crystal) and liquid state materials (CCl4, DMSO/water mixture, aqueous solution of ZnBr2) are
demonstrated. The advantage of this technique over the conventional one is the simplicity of the system.
