Abstract
Based on our work, we reviewed the development of an near-infrared (NIR) to mid-infrared (MIR) optical frequency comb source based on passively mode-locked fiber lasers. An octave spanning supercontinuum comb was developed using a stabilized Er doped fiber laser comb, a similariton amplifier, and highly nonlinear fibers. We achieved an environmentally stable, all-polarization maintaining fiber laser comb with fiber laser using carbon nanotube saturable absorber, and investigated an offset free, MIR comb source based on a high power Yb fiber laser and a DFG in a nonlinear crystal. Finally, recent progress and future prospects were briefly discussed.
