Digitalization in industries has revolutionized operational procedures in many sectors, such as logistics,
architecture, and manufacturing. Lasers that can be controlled digitally have become essential in the
manufacturing industry. However, optimization of laser process conditions is not an easy task. Concepts
such as Digital Twin and Cyber-Physical-System that involve cyber and physical spaces have the potential
to solve this and increase productivity. These concepts are based on a data-driven architecture. This
special issue describes recent progress in data-driven laser processing and related technologies such as
on-site monitoring, real-time laser control, optimization, and databases obtained from practical cases.
