Abstract
We developed a nanosecond fiber laser with real-time arbitrary waveform control using Proportionalintegral- differential (PID) control. When optical excitation is performed in a laser, the desired waveform is not obtained due to waveform distortion caused by gain saturation. Conventionally, waveform distortion can be corrected iteratively by a human operator. We demonstrated real-time performance and flexible waveform control using PID control. For the square wave, convergence was achieved after four times PID control, and the Mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) was about 3.4% for the target waveform. The previous study achieved a MAPE of 1% with approximately 100 trials. This study is characterized by its simplicity with fewer searches. This method is practical and can be used in cyber-physical systems.
