Single mode oscillation of the TE CO2 laser which contained strong absorber (NH3) was attained at theline center with the injection technique, although the presence of the absorber strongly reduced the CO2 lasergain at the line center. As the pressure of the NH3 gas was increased, the delay time of the single mode oscillation was also increased. In the single mode TE CO2 laser pulse, a dip was observed. The dip is due to anincrease of the absorption by NH3 and is interpreted in term of the two-photon process.
