Abstract
Two processes which are essential to generate ultrashort optical pulses are described. They are 1) producing/providing the broad-band optical spectra and 2) controlling the phase relation between the optical frequency components.
Additionally, typical methods of ultrashort optical pulse generation, i. e. modelocking, electrooptic gates, an optical pulse synthesizer, and…, are summarized.
