Studies on intramolecular vibrational energy redistribution in the lowest excited electronic manifold are reviewed based on absorption, fluorescence, and ionization spectroscopy. A new method of “photochemical timing”is described for the vibrational mode dynamics of supersonically cooled trans-stilbene.
