Abstract
To develop an automatated system producing steric objects, the solidification of a thermosetting resin was examined by scanning the IR laser. Experiments carried out at various laser powers and scanning rates, revealed that the resin can be solidified in a short time to shape the objects and that an overmuch power density gives rise to overall solidification of the resin. This method may provide a new technique for manufacturing plastic models.
