Quantitative evaluation of optical information storage capacity in a photorefractive material Bi12SiO20 was made experimentally. Methods are presented for simultaneous and successive multiple information recording in the same volume of Bi12SiO20 crystal. The phenomenon of cross-talks between two phase holograms was investigated by continuously changing the angle of the reference beam. The minimum angle between two recording pump beams without cross-talks that determine the packing density of phase holograms in the crystal, was found to be of the order of submilliradians.
