A KTiOPO4 nonlinear crystal gives 459-nm blue laser by sum frequency generation using an 809-nm diode laser and a 1064-nm Nd doped solid-state laser end pumped by diode laser, The laser is expected to be a compact blue laser sources to increase the storage density of optical disks and to improve the image quality of laser beam printers.
