Abstract

An all-solid-state exciter with a three-stage magnetic pulse compressor has been designed and constructed for a high repetition-rate transversely excited atmospheric CO2 laser. An average laser power of 1.5 kW was obtained at a repetition rate of 200 pps, with an overall efficiency of 7.3%. This is the first time that the average CO2 laser power of more than 1 kW has been demonstrated by an all-solid-state exciter.
