A Ti: sapphire laser is indispensably useful for spectroscopy owing to its broad tuning range, high power, narrow linewidth, and simple maintenance. Spectroscopy experiments of atoms and molecules with Ti: sapphire lasers are reviewed with emphasis on high-resolution spectroscopy.
