Experimental Study on a Prism-External-Cavity Semiconductor Laser with Dispersion Feedback

Abstract

We have studied experimentally a prism-external-cavity semiconductor laser system with a dispersion feedback. In the system, the longitudinal mode of a semiconductor laser can be tuned continuously over a small range of about 400MHz, and the linewidth of a single mode is about 60MHz. Tuning characteristics have been investigated as functions of injection current, external cavity length and feedback energy to the laser diode.
