Abstract
As a Preliminary study of pesticide analysis by mass spectrometry, we examined the experimen tal conditions for obtaining spectra of several organic phosphorus compounds. (1) Identification of Pesticide from the various commercial Preparations: Commercially available dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane emulsion (DDT) and hexachlorobenzene powder(γ-BHC)contain various surfactants and diluents, but these preparations give the spectra of respective pure compouds by direct measurement. (2) Temperature Dependene: Although low temperature measurements are expected to be suitable for good reproducibility, almost no change of spectra was observed for the temperature range of 100-200°C. (3) Effect of Time: The intensities of the molecular peak and fragment peaks weres table for 60 minutes. These results indicate that the quantitative analyses of pesticides by mass spectrometric deter mination seem to be very attractive.
