Abstract
The present study was carried out with the purpose of investigating inconsistent conjugated liquidus in the Zn–Bi system being determined by various techniques. Experimental results obtained using the emf plus sampling techniques were in reasonable agreement with three kinds of the conjugated liquidus curve in the literatures. To explain such anomalous liquid phase separations, the authors proposed a separation mechanism that the phase separation would begin at the wall interface with decreasing temperature and then extend over the alloy surface.
