The Ti–Al–Ag ternary system has been investigated by X-ray diffraction, electron microprobe analysis, scanning electron microscopy and differential thermal analysis. An isothermal section at 1073 K and a vertical section through Ti-51.0 at%Al and Ag-7.5 at%Al line have been determined.
No other phases than those already encountered in the three binary systems have been found. All the intermetallic compounds of the Ti–Al system are in equilibrium with the (Ag) phase. In the vertical section diagram, the TiAl phase constructs a pseudo-binary system with the (Ag) phase.
