Abstract
In light of the Tohoku earthquake that recently took place in Japan, citizens have become more aware of the affects natural disasters can have on their lives. For this reason, there has been a strong movement to increase the use of electric-powered vehicles as an alternative to those that depend heavily on oil.
Japanese Electric Power-Assisted Cycles, which use an electric motor power system, has become a well-known name within this movement. It is supplying bicycles for both children and adults, with the hope of growing to become a world leader in this industry. It is possible to use Electric Power-Assisted Cycles as a power source, not only for service to the user but as a means of transport and as a power source at the disaster site. These new generation cycles are creating new business opportunities around the world for Japanese companies.
