Abstract
In order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, various decarbonization and resource circulation technologies are being developed and demonstrated for social implementation in the waste management and material cycles fields. In this paper, we firstly introduce the status of efforts at the Fujimi Clean Plaza and Itabashi Incineration Plants as demonstration examples of carbon dioxide separation and capture technology from flue gas emitted from municipal solid waste incineration facilities. Secondly, we describe the methanation demonstration tests at the Odawara City and Yokohama City Municipal solid waste incineration plants as well as the development status of high-speed fly ash carbonation, agricultural use, and solid carbonization technologies as technologies for utilizing captured carbon dioxide. Finally, we introduce the status of efforts on the carbonization technology of municipal solid waste for fuel use, which is one of the component technologies of CCUS.
