Abstract
With the increasing threat of global water scarcity, reverse osmosis (RO) membrane is being accepted for the applications in desalination or waste water reuse. Moreover, the global water environmental is suffering from declining source water quality and increasing discharge requirements. As a solution, industrial water users are recycling and reusing more and more of limited water available to them. However, such water contains higher salts and organic contamination than fresh water sources, and thus fouling of RO system is an unavoidable challenge. Fouling of RO membrane leads to frequent chemical cleanings, system down time and high energy consumption.
In this report, our newest fouling resistance membrane, DOW FILMTECTM FORTILIFETM CR100 is introduced. Performance of this elements was compared with other fouling resistance elements by side-by-side plot test, and showed high fouling resistant of lower pressure drop and less CIP frequency. This demonstrates that this element would be an essential tool to solve challenges of water
