Abstract
Zeta potential is widely used as an indicator of the dispersion stability of colloids. On the other hand, it is also an important quantity in the investigation of solid surface properties. Two main methods for evaluating the zeta potential of solid surfaces are known : the streaming potential method and the electrophoresis method. The principles and practical differences between these two methods will be outlined. The evaluation of fouling and cleaning effects of microfiltration membranes using our SurPASSTM 3 streaming potential measurement system will also be presented.
